Samsung has received 9 million pre orders for it’s latest flagship Galaxy S III smartphone which comes as no surprise as the Galaxy S III was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year.Korean Economic Daily reported that an unnamed Samsung employee had given in the details.The report also says that Samsung has made one of it’s production units which is able to produce 5 million units per month fully operational.Samsung,now the largest phone maker in the world had shipped 40% of the total Android handsets last quarter.

The NTT Docomo variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III is confirmed be having 2GB of RAM in Japan.The model number of the phone will be SC-06D and will feature a Snapdragon S4 processor instead of Samsung’s own Exynos 4 Quad.NTT Docomo has chosen the dual core Snapdragon S4 as it is compatible with their LTE network.We still have no news if this is the same phone that will be hitting the US as it has some extra features for the local Japanese market.

LG has officially launched the “Optimus UI 3.0″, an Ice Cream Sandwich skin for LG devices.One of the first devices to be getting the new UI will be the LG Optimus LTE II which will be launched this week in Korea and following it will be the Optimus 4X HD which is going to be lauched in June.According to LG the new UI will be having new features like an improved unlock function and Quick Memo.LG also claims that it’s new UI will be “UNOBTRUSIVE AND SIMPLE” as they had designed the UI with “ convenience and speed in mind”.

Additional features of the UI:

– the ability to unlock the phone by dragging anywhere on the screen;

– a new Pattern Lock that allows users to preset the most frequently used function,

   such as the camera, which automatically opens once the phone is unlocked;
– a simpler version of Optimus UI 3.0 for new smartphone users which organizes the main applications so that

   they are the easiest to access;

– a new Voice Shutter that allows users to capture photos using only voice commands;

– a special camera feature that enables users to pick up the best shot among multiple images including the

   moment just before the shutter button is depressed;

– an Icon Customizer that provides an additional level of personalization by allowing users to set their own

   photos as icons and shortcut images;

– the addition of a Download category to the menu for easier organization.

Steps to install/flash Cyanogenmod 9 Onto your Galaxy Note:

Step 1>>Download the latest Cyanognmod 9 build from HERE.

Step 2>>Download Gapps package from HERE.

Step 3>>Now transfer both the zip files that you downloaded above to the root of your SD card i.e don’t put the zip files in any folders as it may become difficult to navigate in CWM.

Step 4>>Power off your phone and boot into recovery by simultaneously pressing UP+Home+Power buttons until a recovery mode screen appears.

Step 5>>Touch screen will not work in recovery so use the volume up an down buttons to navigate and power to select.

Step 6>>Now in the menu select “wipe data/factory reset ” and then select “yes“.

Step 7>>Now select “Install zip from sdcard>>choose zip from sdcard” and select  the ROM file you downloaded in Step 1.

Step 8>>Wait for the installation to complete.

Step 9>>Now go back and flash the Gapps zip file you downloaded in Step 2 by following the same method as you did in Step 7.

Step 10>>Now,reboot your phone and Cyanogenmod 9 will be installed/flashed onto your device!

Yesterday,Modaco user PaulOBrien observed that he could not unlock his AT&T HTC One X bootloader while users on Rogers were able to unlock their bootloaders.The Verge reached out to HTC on this matter and got a reply that there were some “restrictions” which prevents certain devices from participating in their bootloader unlock program.

Here’s the reply they got:

HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction. Since announcing our commitment to unlockable bootloaders, HTC has worked to enable our customers to unlock the bootloader on more than 45 devices over the past six months. In some cases, however, restrictions prevent certain devices from participating in our bootloader unlocking program. Rest assured, HTC is committed to assisting developers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices and we’ll continue to unlock additional devices in the future.” 

The Verge points out that AT&T might me the cause behind the “restrictions” imposed on the phone.This might disappoint members of the developer community as it is difficult to flash custom kernels and ROM’s with the boot loader locked.
